Accor, a famous European hotelier, expands its business and sees the Middle East as one of its priority markets with 18 new projects in pipeline due by 2014. This will add over 4,800 new guestrooms to the portfolio of the hotelier.
Currently Accor tries to concentrate its efforts on 2 opening hotels in United Arab Emirates and the Saudi Arabia. From 18 new properties 11 accommodations with be located in the UAE, 2 hotels in Saudi Arabia, 3 hotels in Syria, and 2 hotels in Bahrain.
As Christophe Landais, the managing director of the Middle East department of the company, states, Accor had really good performance in the region in 2010. In 2011 the hotelier plans to increase the potential of this market and wants to open new hotels in the UAE to make this destination truly affordable. In order to make this possible Accor plans to launch accommodations in the UAE under its middle-class brand Novotel. Another new brand by Accor in the region is Adagio City Apartholets. This brand is oriented for long-stay customers and the first property under it will be a hotel in Abu Dhabi, which is scheduled for opening in 2012. Currently there are 30 Adagio hotels in Europe and by 2015 the company plans to expand their number up to 100.
The first property from the abovementioned 18 hotels will be opened this year and this will be the 354-key Pullman Dubai Jumeirah Lake hotel.
