InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) will soon debut on the hotel market of Malaysia with its first property under the InterContinental brand. Starting from February 1, 2011, Nikko Hotel Kuala Lumpur will change the owner and turn into InterContinental Kuala Lumpur.
This 473-key property is located in the prestigious Jalan Ampang area that is known as business, trading and entertaining center in the heart of Malaysia capital. Nearby the hotel are located Petronas twin towers and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. InterContinental hotel in Kuala Lumpur has advantageous location not far from the popular Putra World Trade Center (around 10 minutes) and around 30 minutes of driving from the International Kuala Lumpur Airport. Before the opening the hotel will pass through the 30 month long reconstruction that will be conducted in 3 stages.
As Jean Smits, the executive manager of IHG in Australasia, says, InterContinental brand is already present in 60 countries of the world and is happy to appear on the hotel market of Malaysia.
This will be not the first property of IHG in this country as it already manages such hotels as Holiday Inn Resort hotel in Penang, Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur, Holiday Inn Malacca, and Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie.
