Spanish hotels occupancy rate in July 2010 grew by 7,2% compared to the same period in 2009. The communique, issued by National Institute of Statistics (INE), notes that in July there were more than 35.1 million overnight stays at Spanish hotels. However, the number of person-nights decreased by 1,4% compared with July 2009.
In just the first seven months of 2010, hotel occupancy increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2009. Hotel prices in 2010 remained at approximately the same level as in 2009, and amounted to an average 74.1 euros per night (0.9% higher than the previous year).
In July 2010 6.97 million foreign tourists visited Spain, which is 4,5% more than the same period in 2009. Most foreign tourists arrived from Germany and the UK (40% of all foreign visitors) and preferred to stay at hotels of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
