M. A Kharafi Group of Kuwait hotels reports 40-per-cent completion of the first stage of its hotel in Egypt Port Ghalib Hotel. This first stage of the whole $2 billion project includes a congress center, several retail supermarkets and office buildings, international bay and four hotels in Marsa Alam that are already functioning: the Palace, the Oasis, and the Sands, owned by Crown Plaza, and Marina Lodge. There are also a handful of villas and luxury suits ready to accept first vacationers.
The first stage also includes 19 hotels in the pipeline, a yacht club and a golf field. Port Ghalib is the first luxury hotel complex to appear in Egypt that is supposed to dispel the deeply rooted myth about this country as an attraction for unpretentious visitors.
Port Ghalib is located 785 km away from Cairo and 200 km away from Hurgada, a Russian health resort, and a 10 minute drive from Marsa Alam International Airport. Russial tour operating groups have long been providing charter flights to Marsa Alam Airport.
