Morgans Hotel Group has revealed its plans concerning the expansion into Middle East. The company will start from opening a hotel in Qatar. A Mondrian hotel is currently in the process of renovation and is scheduled for opening in the beginning of 2013.
The new accommodation will be located in the capital of the country. This 256-key hotel in Doha may become popular because of such factors as proximity to all popular destinations of the city (the hotel will be located in a popular West Bay Lagoon region), numerous restaurants and bars inside the hotel, a Spa center, and two pools (an indoor one and an outdoor rooftop pool with a bar). Morgans Hotel Group will act as a managing company as the property is owned by a Qatar-based bank connected with a member of Qatar’s royal family.
As Marc Gordon, the president of Morgans, says, they are happy to be able to manage such project. The company has ambitious plans concerning the expansion into Middle East and hopes a hotel in Doha will become a starting point for future growth in this region. This property may also increase the recognition and the appeal of the company’s brand, so Morgans Hotel Group is ready to show its best.
Once the hotel is finished the owner will conclude a 30-year long managing contract with Morgans. The hotelier acts like an operating company only and doesn’t invest anything into this property. This is not the only new managing contract for Morgans as recently the company has concluded the agreements for operating hotels in Turkey, Cabo San Lucas and New York.
