The mysterious Crenshaw House is situated in Illinois, US. It was built in 1838 and belonged to the local slave owner John Crenshaw; there were real legends about his cruel nature. According to one of them, he equipped some sort of prison in the attic of the villa; there he kept entire families of slaves illegally kidnapped in northern states. Locals treated cries and moans of the slaves coming from the attic as tricks of ghosts. That’s why Crenshaw House became known as a haunted house.
In 1871, the cruel owner of the mansion has died. After 50 years, new owner of the villa, Hickman Whittington, reported to one of the local newspapers about the paranormal phenomena occurring in his house. Before journalists responded to his statements, Hickman decided to spend one night in the attic of the mansion; in the morning he was found dead.
