Mytilene is the capital of the Lesbos Island. This town is located on two high hills, wrapping them like an amphitheater. On the top of one of the hills is located one of the most valuable archaeological sites of the Middle Ages - Genoa Castle, and so each day the guests of this resort make excursions to it.
The top of the hill features a magnificent view of the island. The city is not only a center of tourism, but also a major port region. The new port located in its southern part greets ships from Athens and other Aegean islands. The northern part of the island is the location of the old port. The largest market of the region, which is also called Mytilene, is located nearby. The variety of goods sold here is simply impossible to imagine as on this market you will find clothes, richest choice of national crafts and souvenirs, jewelry and wide range of other products. Among the attractions of this place we should mention great Byzantine churches that contrast with modern buildings, as well as rich parklands.

In the center of the town there is a picturesque bay, near which are always moored luxurious yachts. Here are also arranged boat trips for visitors, during which you can explore the island and learn numerous stories about it. If you make a walk along the coast, you will find many hospitable restaurants, cafes, bars and taverns which offer both national cuisine and traditional European dishes.
