Many tourists are familiar with the Potsdam park complex of Sanssouci under the unofficial names 'Potsdamer Versailles'. The castle complex, erected as a summer castle for Frederick the Great, looks really grand and irresistible. It enchants with the size, the unique design of the adjacent territory. The wonders of the Sanssouci palace park complex is one of the most magnificent not only in East Germany, but also in the whole world.
The complex has the area of about 290 hectares, on its territory are three beautiful castles and a lot of additional buildings. The extent of the main avenue is 2.5 km. The Orangerieschloss, the wonderful renaissance monument, is the most famous and most recognizable among the three castles. You can walk for hours through the extensive park and graze along the marvelous pavilions, the pond and the numerous fountains. Along the long park lanes, the numerous sculptures are placed, which are of great historical and artistic importance.
