Driving in Denmark – Recommendations, Tips and Tricks
18. There are parking places at the side of some roads. On weekdays between 9:00 and 17:00 it is possible to leave cars at such parking lots for up to one hour. On Saturday, the same restriction is valid from 9:00 to 13:00, and on Sundays there are no restrictions. In order to use the street parking, you also need to use a parking disc.
19. All paid parking lots can be divided into three types - red (the most expensive), green and blue (the blue ones are usually located in suburban areas and are the cheapest). As a rule, on Sundays it is possible to use green and blue car parks for free.
20. Many parking lots also sell diesel fuel and unleaded gasoline (95 and 98). Gas refills are rare, so it is better to specify their location in advance. In Denmark, it is allowed to carry petrol in cans (up to 10 liters).
21. Many petrol stations have a self-service system of use. Large petrol stations are often combined with technical centers, but all extra services must be paid separately.
22. The vehicle must be equipped with a warning triangle. Drivers are also recommended to keep first aid kit and fire extinguisher in the car. The presence of such a thing as a reflective vest will also be very useful, because it is not permitted to leave a car at night without such a vest even in an emergency case.

24. It is not permitted to use and transport radar detectors in the car. This violation will result in an impressive fine and the immediate confiscation of the device. The fine will be issued regardless of the fact whether the device was used or not.

31. Note that the permitted time of parking is controlled and you cannot exceed the end time indicated in your ticket. If you do not need to pick up the car or want to extend the parking time, it is necessary to go back to the parking lot and make one more payment. The fine for overdue parking ranges from 200 to 300 euro.
32. It is important to note that there are special parking places for the disabled and drivers of electric cars. Other drivers are not permitted to occupy those parking places. Such parking spaces are always marked with appropriate signs, and spaces for electric cars are even equipped with special charging sockets.
33. If near the enter to the parking lot you see the «10-18 2timer» sign, then it is permitted to leave the car at this parking lot for free, but no longer than for two hours. The rule is valid from 10:00 to 18:00. Do not forget that in order to use such parking lots, you will need a parking disc.
