Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (Liberia International Airport) is one of the four main international airports of Costa Rica. The airport serves the city of Liberia (that is 12 km from the airport), the province of Guanacaste where it is located, and the region of Western Costa Rica. The airport was first named after the district where it was built, Liano Grande. Then, the airport was named after the President leading the country in the second half of the 80s of the last century. The airport services over a million passengers every year and is the second in the passenger traffic of the country. The passenger terminal was rebuilt in 2012 and updated in 2017. Depending on the tourist season, the airport is closed for the whole (from 12 to 6 am) or a few hours (from 12 to 3:30 am).

You can reach Liberia Airport in several ways: take a licensed red taxi, use the services provided by passenger buses: Airport - Liberia (Pulmitan Company), Liberia - Nicoya (Family, Pampa). The bus stop is located to the right of the terminal. At the airport, you can use the services provided by private hauliers or rent a car.

Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car

It is very easy to rent a car. Several car rental companies’ stands are located in the baggage claim area, opposite the baggage conveyor belts. At the airport, you can use the services provided by the following car rental companies: ANC, Budget, Economy, National, Alamo, Enterprise, Apex car rentals, Europcar. The airport also cooperates with such companies, as Green Motion and Sixt. To book a car in advance, use an online service or make a pre-order by the phone number specified on the website of LIR Airport.

You can receive the rented car in the special parking lot near the terminal. The parking lot for rented cars is located between two public lots, to the right of the terminal. Vehicles are returned to the same parking lot.

If you rent the car from Green Motion or Sixt, these companies will offer you a free transfer from the terminal to the place where you can form and get the car. Some companies provide the driver’s services in addition to the car rental.

Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby

At Daniel Oduber Quiros Airport, there are several parking lots near the passenger terminal. To get to them, it is enough to go out of the terminal and turn left. Parking lots are located within easy walking distance from the exit from the terminal. Parking is free here. The airport does not recommend to leave your personal belongings in the cars parked.

There is the hotel called Hilton Garden Inn opposite the airport, near the airfield, at: Ruta 21, Frente al Aeropuerto Inter, 00011). There is the other hotel, Hotel Santa Ana, that is 5 km east of the airport.
