According to numerous studies, the limestone cliff was formed in the Devonian period, a significant part of the natural formation is made up of petrified shells and shells of prehistoric sea animals. Currently, the arch is located on the territory of Bonaventure Island and Perce Rock Natural Park. There are a lot of amazing natural objects there.
Researchers knew about the miraculous arch several centuries ago. They have found that there were two arches in the rock still at the beginning of the 19th century. But the smaller one fell in 1845. Today, only the preserved fragment of the rock reminds of the second arch. Perce Rock was discovered by the French explorer and traveller Jacques Cartier, who was the first European to visit this hard-to-reach coast.
