The best way to get acquainted with the culture and traditions of Tuscany is to visit the picturesque town of Montepulciano at the end of September. For the last few years it has been a regular venue for one of the most important and interesting cultural events in the region, the Festival of Crafts. The first festival was held recently, in 2007; since then it has become an annual event. It is considered one of the most interesting in the region.
The festival starts on the last Friday of September and lasts for 7 days; local potters and blacksmiths, lace makers and wood carvers, goldsmiths and other craftsmen take part in the holiday. During the event, there is an interesting trade fair, where you can see the most interesting works of artisans and buy your favorite things.

Everyone interested in learning the art of handicraft can take part in master classes. The main part of celebrations is held at Piazza Grande, the main towns square. It becomes a very busy place, where music and other live entertainment events don’t stop from early morning until late at night.
