The EU is interested in developing its hospitality industry in order to get more tourists, especially from such large outbound markets as China and the United States. For this purpose, the region is planning to host a series of educational conferences and special matchmaking events. In line with the new Partnership in European Tourism program, the EU will organize eight conferences and matchmaking events for businessmen. These events will take place in Europe, key China and US destinations, and some tourism related fair trades.
January will be a hot time for hotels in Venice as the first event of the new program will start in this beautiful Italian city on January 19, 2018. A delegation from China will visit the meeting. The next event is set to take place in Berlin in March. The date of the conference is not random as it coincides with ITB, which is widely recognized as the largest tourism related trade fair in whole Europe. During this event, particular attention will be paid to Group Tourism and River Cruising and their potential in the EU.
The third meeting of Partnership in European Tourism will take place in Beijing in April 2018. This event will be primarily targeted at the theme of Family Travel. This way, Europe hopes to help local companies to set up or improve their outbound business in China. Further meetings in the States and China are to be announced later.
Because for many tourists from other continents Europe is more like a unified destination, the EU does not plan to focus on specific sights and countries. Instead, they want to pay more attention to routes in Europe and things to do for different groups of travelers, such as family tourism, culture or romance seekers, etc. European companies are welcome to participate in the project and still can send their inquiries to Partnership in European Tourism. The program is fully funded by the European Commission, and the events are organized by the European Travel Commission, the European Tourism Association, and the European Association of Travel Agents.
The Partnerships in European Tourism in an innovative program as it will help hotels in Europe as well as other hospitality organizations to establish better connections with businesses from such key source markets as China and the USA. The program has a particularly special meaning given that 2018 was proclaimed the “EU-China Tourism Year”.
