The Palace Hotel in Bürgenstock Resort, which is located on Lake Lucerne, Switzerland, started accepting meeting and event reservations and will soon greet tourists. The iconic hotel of a “belle époque” is finally open after a renovation that lasted 8 years.
There are only four hotels in Bürgenstock, and the Palace Hotel is one of them. The hotel will be fully open for everyone in June. The magnificent 113-year-old Palace Hotel now has 108 rooms and suites, a spacious terrace with magnificent views of Lake Lucerne, event space of more than 10,000 square feet in total, a French cuisine restaurant, and a lobby lounge.
The renovation took so long because the amount of work was simply striking. The wooden building of the Palace Hotel, which had been constructed in 1904, was almost completely demolished. The original décor, including faux marble pillars, plasterwork, and stucco molding were removed. All historic artifacts were carefully cataloged. More than 200 items were added to the list and put into a temperature-controlled storage. Two faux marble pillars were restored by Schupfer and Debon AG that specialize in restoration of medieval buildings, old churches, etc.
All guest rooms of the Palace Hotel now have large floor-to-ceiling windows with breathtaking views of the Alps and Lake Lucerne. Rooms range in size from 312 to 419 square feet and feature elegant contemporary style, marble baths, and rain showers. The hotel’s restaurant, Ritzcoffier, features the original historic fireplace and old wooden doors. The restaurant serves gourmet a la Escoffier French cuisine. The Salle Palace event space is 3,552 square feet large and has everything needed for wedding ceremonies, celebrations or conferences.
