The first Hard Rock Hotel in India is set to open in Calangute, Goa. The resort, which is managed by Spectra Hotels & Resorts, is currently in the phase of the soft launch. The 135 guestroom Hard Rock Hotel Goa is owned by the Bangalore headquartered Convention Hotels India Pvt Ltd (CHI).
Initially, the company had agreement with Zurich-headquartered hospitality company Swissotel Hotels & Resorts. The building was occupied by a five star Swissotel hotel, but the partnership between CHI and Swissotel lasted less than six months. After that the hotel was operated by the owner under its brand North 16. Quite an interesting fact the six month long partnership between Swissotel and CHI was the shortest partnership between hotel operator and owner in the hotel market of India. Before that the shortest partnership was a nice month long collaboration between Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts and Atul Ruia.
Hard Rock Hotel in Goa already greets its first guests, and its managing company Spectra Hotels & Resorts hopes to operate more Hard Rock Hotels in India and seeks new opportunities for expansion.
