Scandic will offer more choices in its breakfast menu, this time addressing the needs of vegan guests and guests with food-allergies. The menu was already successfully tested at three hotels of the chain, and will be gradually added to all Scandic hotels. The Stockholm-headquartered hotelier will add the menu to Scandic hotels in Sweden already in the beginning of 2016. The company targets to be the most sustainable hotelier in the Nordic region, so it continuously seeks new ways of offering environment friendly service and is focused on social responsibility.
The updated breakfast menu now includes 28 gluten- and lactose-free options. The hotelier conducted several studies in the past that revealed that these days many travelers avoid products that contain lactose and gluten, even if they don’t suffer from food allergies. Therefore, the hotelier decided to include more products in the breakfast menu to make sure guests enjoy it. New buffer options include yoghurt and butter without lactose, special sandwich spreads and substitutes of cheese for vegan guests; and gluten free options include special breads, muesli, toppings, and crackers. Moreover, guests are welcome to try special oat-based beverages. The abovementioned products are provided by regular supplier brands of Scandic, such as Arla, Oatly, and Carlshamn. The buffets at Scandic hotels will get a new corner for gluten-free and vegan products, a separate toaster, and a separate fridge for lactose-free products.
