Melia Hotels announced the opening of its first property in Mongolia. That is going to be Gran Melia hotel in Ulaanbaatar that will become the 13th Gran Melia branded hotel in the world and the 18th Melia hotel in Asia Pacific.
Melia Hotels is not a new player on the market of the region as the company has been present on the market of Vietnam, China, Malaysia and Indonesia for more than 28 years. Now the famous hotelier will bring its understanding of luxury to the capital of Mongolia.
The new hotel will be opened in accordance with management agreement between Melia Hotels and Baz International. Gran Melia Ulaanbaatar will be a newly built hotel with 150 spacious guestrooms. The hotel is set to open in 2017. The hotel will occupy 12 floors of the newest skyscraper including the top floor. To the service of guests there will be a helipad, a rooftop restaurant, and such signature concepts of the brand as Red Level, Yhi Spa, and RedGlove Service. The hotel may draw attention of business and leisure travellers who will like convenient location of the tower and its proximity to governmental and business districts of the city.
Even though Mongolia is not a big country (its population is only 3 million people), during the last decade the country has experienced double-digit growth of GDP. Naturally, the demand for quality hotels has increased too. Mining has become one of most important industries in Mongolia as this sector is expected to represent around one third of the country’s economy by 2020.
