The latest large-scale survey by TripAdvisor named TripBarometer shows that hotels in emerging markets become more confident and optimistic about their future. The survey covered more than 19,000 travellers and 10,000 hotel business owners in different parts of the world.
Travellers are also rather confident in their future, with 61% of respondents planning to spend less or the same amount for travelling in 2014. In general, more people plan to travel next year, and travellers are ready to scarify other aspects in order to be able to travel. Of course, such optimism encourages hotel owners. When it comes to hoteliers, hotel business owners from the Americas, the Middle East and Asia are the most confident. As many as 79% of Central America hotel owners are sure 2014 will be a profitable year for them. In the US, 65% of hoteliers plan to increase guestroom rates. That is 16% higher compared to the previous year. Regarding the question of development of new hotels, and, thus, new competitors on the market, Asian hoteliers are the most worried. Almost 34% of hotels in the region see development of new hotels as a threat to them. They are followed by European hoteliers (+21%) and South America hoteliers (+10%).
