Marriott International has reported the start of a series of initiatives targeted at reducing the use of energy in the company’s hotels in Europe. Thanks to new energy saving program, the company plans to reduce energy consumption by 7% within next three years. According to the plan, Marriott hotels in Europe should reduce their use of energy by 20% until 2020.
In order to make the plan come true, the famous hotelier has coupled its efforts with Siemens that is responsible for the first phase of the project optimization of 20 hotels in Europe. Both the companies will optimize energy usage and consumption. Moreover, hotels will be able to track their energy consumption in real time! Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Marriott Hotel was the first accommodation to hold a trial run. The program helped to reduce CO2 emissions by 10%.
KiWi Power is another partner of Marriott. The company specializes in developing smart solutions for energy consumption with smooth work even during peak energy demand. This program is currently tested in Marriott hotel in London. Finally, the third initiative concerns heat and power management.
