Accor, the largest hotel company in Europe, has reported a tremendous growth of revenues of its hotels in Dubai during the first quarter of 2012. 14 hotels in Dubai, which belong to the famous hotelier, feature the increase in revenues of 25%.
RevPAR (revenue per available room) added 25 percent for 4,000 Accor’s rooms in Dubai. The occupancy was also very good and estimated 85 percent. Accor’s spokesman has noted that business is back in Dubai. The increases are visible in both business and leisure tourism sectors. The average occupancy during 2011 estimated 78 percent. This means this year it is already 7 percent higher. In 2012 Accor plans to open two more hotels in Dubai. One of the properties is located on Palm Jumeirah – the artificial island made in the shape of a giant palm tree. These hotels should have been opened last year, but the situation went out of control because of the global credit crisis and problems with financing real estate projects.
Even though the hotel supply of Dubai was increased by 18,000 guestrooms in the past 2 years, this fact didn’t make a significant impact on the hotel rates. Tourism in Dubai keeps growing despite the global downturn. In 2011 Dubai was visited by 9.3 million tourists. This is 10% more comparing to 2010.
