Fairmont has just finished the rehabilitation of its hotel in Shanghai. As a part of it, the company has decided to rebuild its Nine Nations Suites in order to make them even more convenient and luxurious. For this purpose the hotelier has collaborated with HBA, a firm specializing in hotel designs.
Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai is located in a historical building, so the main aim of the designer was to preserve the nature of this place. For this purpose HBA took over 3,000 detailed pictures of the hotel. All changes were discussed with Colonial Shanghainese Architectural Historian. This hotel has a long history as first it was opened in 1929. At that time the hotel was named The Cathay Hotel. Nine Nations Suites were developed by the founder himself. Sir Victor Sassoon created these suites mostly for his friends, who could come to his hotel from different parts of the world and enjoy a convenient stay. Among the guests of these suites were such prominent figures as Charlie Chaplin or Bernard Shaw. Noel Coward stood here even longer, as “Private Lives” was written in this hotel.
Nine Nations Suites are large – the size of each of them estimates 178 sq. m. (1,916 sq. ft.). The suites consist of several rooms – a dining room, a bedroom, a living room, and a bathroom. Among the advantages of the suites are spectacular views from their windows. Guests will be able to enjoy panoramic picture of Bund and Huangpu River.
