Pegasus Solutions has published the results of its large-scale research that has covered over 90 thousands of respondents all over the world. According to it the average daily room rate has increased comparing to 2009. This concerns both leisure and business travel. This trend is forecasted to be continued in the first quarter of 2011 with the increase maintaining in a double-digit sum.
As the experts from the Pegasus mention, those business travelers, who have made reservations using global distribution systems, suffered the most as they faced the biggest increase. Leisure travelers, who traditionally make reservations mostly through alternative distribution systems, have suffered less, paying around 3% more than in August 2009. Along with the increased volume of bookings (approximately +10%), hoteliers get additional revenue of 13.7% and this fact allows making careful positive forecasts about the development of hotel industry.
While the demand for hotels in Europe and America is slowly increasing, hoteliers feel comfortable raising rates per room. The Pegasus report notifies as long as the increase in bookings through global distribution systems estimates +20% for almost every month, this trend is going to proceed.
