The most ambitious restoration in the history of the UK is over! The Savoy hotel in London opens its doors to its well-to-do guests after a 35-month renovation. The hotel is run by the new management team Fairmont Hotels & Resorts that has invested enormous £220 million into renewing.
This 268 room hotel was closed in December 2007 because the 121 year old building required renovation. The hotel owners decided to renew the entire hotel, starting from the famous entrance to each room. After the three years of hard work the Savoy London management hopes to gain much public interest and strong bookings from guests who want to see the hotel in its full glory.
Currently luxury segment of London hotels becomes a hot place with tough competition. The Savoy has won just a couple of months of “being in the spotlight” until the opening of other ambitious projects – the Waldorf Astoria Syon Park and no less famous Corinthia Hotel London. All hotels offer luxury rooms, premium quality sport centers and hi-tech spas, multiple bars and top quality restaurants headed by world-famous chefs.
The design of the new Savoy hotel in London is sustained in Art Deco and Edwardian styles. The Savoy style has been developed by Pierre Yves Rochon and over one thousand of artists, craftsmen and artisans have participated in the renovation process. In addition to standard suites the hotel offers 38 River Suites with magnificent Thames view; 9 suites will be devoted to famous personalities that lived in London Savoy, making it the second house. These are such celebrities as Frank Sinatra, Maria Callas, Marlene Dietrich, Charlie Chaplin and others.
