Still an original and dangerous beach airport can be found in the USA, and in the state of Washington. Here the airport was built on the sand coast, in the river delta of Copalis River, to whose honor it was named. It is remarkable that the state of Washington is forbidden to land air transport on the coast. Copalis Airport is the only coast in the state where the aircraft can be legally deployed.
The area of the airport is relatively small and forms only 6 hectares. Copalis Airport has only one runway. Their width is about 46 meters, and the length - 1 372 meters. At the Copalis airport, the aircraft can land exclusively at low tide and during the day. Over the last few years, the airport has received around 200 aircraft annually, the pilots of which are landing the aircraft on the runway without any marking. The strong stranderosion, because of which one has to reduce the runway, makes the conditions of the airport maintenance much more difficult.
