Halle is an important transport junction, a river port, and a center of chemical industry that is well-developed here due to rich sources of potassium sault, brown coal, sault, and copper. Halle is also an important mechanical engineering center with rail carriage, machine-tool construction, food and pharmaceutical industries, wood processing, cement making, metallurgy and production of building materials.
