Airport location, terminals and transportation
Marseille Provence Airport is located in the Cote d'Azur region of France. The airport is 28 km from the business center of Marseille. It was built at the beginning of the last century and was originally called “Marseille Marignane”. In 1834, its name changed to “Marseille Provence”. At the airport, there is a special terminal for low-cost hauliers. The airport is one of the five largest French airports in the passenger traffic and freight traffic. Flights regularly depart from the airport on 132 scheduled domestic and international routes. Its annual passenger turnover is over 9 million people. There are two terminals at the airport. T1 is divided into two concourses.
The airport has railway connection. You can take a free shuttle transfer from the terminal to the railway station. The transfer departs from the bus station (platform #5). The trip takes less than 5 minutes. You can also take a bus running from MRS to Marseille. At Marseille Provence, passengers can use the services provided by several taxi companies 24 hours a day.
Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car
At the airport, you can rent a car. Such services are provided by the following car rental companies: Alamo, Goldcar, National, Avis, Budget, Enterprise rent-a-car, Europcar, Fire Fly car rental, Hertz, Inter rent, and Sixt. Rental points of the companies cooperating with the airport are located in the passenger terminal T1. They are open from 7 am to 11:30 pm.
Vehicles are received and returned to the parking area near terminals. There is a car fleet with cars for rent in the short-term lot of the garage P1, zone B. If the flight arrives outside the opening hours of rental points, you should book a car in advance or contact the booking center upon your arrival at the airport. According to the rental conditions, the car is returned with the same fuel level, as it had when you had taken it. For the drivers’ convenience, there is a self-service and round-the-clock gas station in the territory of the airport.
Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby
The parking area at the airport consists of several parking lots and garages: the garage in front of the terminal P1 for short-term parking, the garage P6 for premium parking, non-covered lots P2 for short-term parking, P5, the economy parking P3, P7, and P Super Eco. You can take a regular free transfer from platform 5 to the Super Eco parking lot.
Near the airport, there are several hotels: Pullman (700 m), Best Western (600 m), Ibis (600 m), and Comfort Hotel (1 km).
