Residents of the UAE Plan to Make 3-4 Holidays in 2021

News It feels like people are really missing travel this year. In 2020, COVID-19 made it significantly more challenging to visit foreign countries but the coming vaccines might resolve the situation. Both hospitality companies and tourists hope for the best in 2021. A recent survey in the UAE only proves this. People are willing to travel even more next year – nearly half of the respondents (51%) say they plan to make as many as 3 or more holidays in 2021.

When asked what the most important aspect of traveling is, 80% of the respondents said that making new memories was the most important thing about traveling for them. Additionally, 81% of the respondents say that their best memories were made during holidays.

Almost every traveler in the UAE felt the devastating effect of the coronavirus pandemic. Nearly all survey respondents (91%) stated they had to cancel at least one overseas holiday in 2020. Almost half of the respondents canceled one or more holidays in the Middle East and North Africa. People are missing traveling very much (84%). UAE nationals are particularly willing to travel with their family (99%).

The survey commissioned by Hilton asked 1,000 UAE nationals to say about their travel plans and preferences. The survey revealed that people in the UAE are passionate about traveling, and when they like some destination they want to visit it again and share their passion with their loved ones. When asked about destinations and their traveling plans for 2021, 34% of the respondents plan to stay in their home country and 26% want to visit Europe. The pandemic has changed the preferences of travelers. People are seeking new types of holidays these days. 65% of the respondents agree they have new priorities now, and more than a third (35%) of them say they are seeking wellness holidays. Nature exploration and resort-type experiences were favored by 16% and 15% respectively.

The survey revealed another interesting change. Almost all Emirati respondents (90%) said they were posting less on social media during vacations in 2020 because they wanted to enjoy the moment and spend more time with their families and loved ones. Finally, staycations in the Emirates became increasingly more popular in 2020. When borders become open again, more than half (53%) of the respondents want to make more staycations abroad, preferably once in two-four months.
