ICONSIAM Opens in Bangkok, Thailand

News If you have always wanted to visit Thailand, here is another reason to book a hotel in Bangkok. This week, one of the most iconic landmarks in Southeast Asia, ICONSIAM in Thailand, was officially opened. Without a doubt, it is the most fabulous and spectacular riverside point of interest in the country. The opening was really on par with the level of the landmark and attracted numerous celebrities and thousands of viewers. During the opening ceremony, guests were able to see the largest flying drone performance in Southeast Asia with more than 1,500 drones joining the show.

ICONSIAM is one of the most expensive developments in Thailand – the budget of the gorgeous project is US$1.65 billion. It is a mixed-use development with the total area of more than 750,000 square meters. ICONSIAM includes shopping areas, super-luxury residents, numerous restaurants, art and culture options, and more. Unfortunately, there is no hotel in the building, but travelers can always find a suitable Bangkok hotel in the same neighborhood.

The eye-catching landmark enjoys a great location near the river and offers stunning views of the surroundings. Thailand really put much effort into ICONSIAM. It gathered a team of people from different countries, and together they tried to create a new symbol of Thailand that can reflect the country’s spirit and make foreign guests even deeper fall in love with it.

The preparation was, indeed, very thorough. Many internationally famous brands collaborated with Thai artists to create a matching environment with integrated Thai themes. For example, traditional Thai silk is used in the design of many stores in ICONSIAM. However, the building does not only appeal to shoppers. There is the longest multimedia water feature in Southeast Asia. The creators hope that it will become one of the key Bangkok landmarks, such as, for example, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore or the London Eye in London. Every day, more than 10,000 square meters of riverside space is open to visitors of the River Park in ICONSIAM.

On the ground floor of the complex, there is a special exhibition area called SookSiam where all 77 provinces in Thailand offer something unique and authentic. Not all planned facilities are open at the moment. For example, the state-of-art auditorium is set to open in July 2019. ICONSIAM’s museum, River Museum Bangkok, will open at the same time. The retail space is already open and features more than 7,000 Thai and international brands.
