Valentine’s Day is approaching and while many think about typical chocolate or flowers as a gift, the survey shows that this is not what many would like to get. The survey conducted by Wakefield Research and commissioned by Princess Cruises throws the light upon preferences of adults and their wishes for the Valentine’s Day gift.
According to the survey results, a vacation is a twice more popular gift than other categories. As many as 26% of respondents would like to get a romantic vacation as a gift, while flowers and chocolate are sought after by only 13% and 11% of respondents respectively. Even jewelry is less popular than a vacation only 11% of adults say they want to receive it. When asked what is the most romantic vacation they can think of, the vast majority of respondents (55%) said a cruise to the Caribbean is the most romantic thing they can imagine.
To cope with the demand, Princess Cruises has prepared special packages for the Valentine’s Day, and, of course, the Caribbean is one of the choices available. There are special packages for couples with the services they will definitely like. The romantic options available include breakfasts and dinners on a private balcony, a special adults-only Sanctuary where guests can relax in a private cabana, or a romantic night out on the top deck where guests can watch movies “under the stars”. The Lotus Spa also has special treatments for adults, such as romantic massage sessions in a private room with a breathtaking ocean view and whirlpool. Finally, the Chocolate Journeys program offers wine and chocolate combinations carefully prepared by skilled chefs.
The ambassador of Princess Cruises, Gavin MacLeod is not surprised by the choice of the most romantic destination. A Caribbean cruise has always been a dream of numerous couples. The actor, who played a cruise ship captain in the past, says that both celebrities and the crew were fascinated about the filming and found Caribbean cruises extremely appealing.
The survey also had more questions about the holiday. For example, respondents were asked what they thought about renewing their vows on the Valentine’s Day. The majority (51%) think that the best time to do that is between 10 and 25 years of marriage. There was also a question about the celebrity that respondents would like to have a double date with. The former US president Barak Obama and his wife Michelle were the most popular answer 30% of respondents picked them.
