Early 2017 Bookings Exceed The Previous Year

News According to Tourico Holidays, an American wholesale travel brokerage company, this year has a chance to be more successful than 2016. Even early booking data from almost 80,000 hotels located in 4,500 destinations around the world shows that currently 2017 bookings outpace 2016 by solid 28.7%.

When it comes to analyzing source markets, we can see growth in all main markets, as it is stated in the 2017 Global Hotel Trends Report. Tourists from North America have increased their room night bookings by 28% year-over-year when compared to the same period of 2016. The same growth was achieved by Europe – European tourists have also been booking hotel rooms more actively since the beginning of the year. Travellers from Asia Pacific have achieved the growth of 23%, but the biggest increase in year-over-year was achieved by travelers from Latin America – here room nights added fantastic 43%.

When describing the growth of bookings on a country basis, we can see both traditionally strong source markets and some less expected participants. For example, room night bookings in Canada have grown by 55% year-over-year since the beginning of 2017.China is a little bit behind with the growth of 52%. Travellers from the United Kingdom have been 38% more active in room night bookings, outpacing the United States with the growth of 26%. Room nights booked in the United Arab Emirates showed the growth of 65% year-over-year, and Sweden posted a tremendous growth of 112%. Other countries with significant growth of room nights booked are Mexico (+37%), Brazil (+31%), Thailand (+29%), and Australia (+10%).
