Hilton Worldwide has expanded its soap recycling program to all properties operating under All Suites brands. From now, all discarded soap bars and open amenity bottles will be gathered, recycled and then donated to reduce illnesses caused by low hygiene in communities in need.
The soap recycling program currently includes 1370 hotels, which is almost 15% of the already operating hotels and 29% of hotels in the pipeline. Hilton plans to expand the list of participating hotels in future and nearly double it in coming years.
The collected soap is then given to Clean the World and other organizations working in the same field. The partnership has already proven its effectiveness Hilton has managed to collect more than one million pounds of partially-used soap, which has been recycled into more than 4 million bars of new soap. The recycling program is also good for environment as this has prevented the creation of more than 570 tons of waste. Clean the World and similar organizations not just provide soap to communities in need, but educate people about the hygiene and importance of hand washing. The All Suites brands also emphasize the importance of hand washing through social media channels and underline the positive impact of hand washing on global health.
