The Oldest Hotel in Ibiza to Become the First Curio Branded Property

Hilton Worldwide will soon debut on the hotel market of Ibiza with its Curio hotel brand. The choice of property for the debut hotel is worth mentioning. Hilton will refurbish and rebrand the oldest hotel of the island – Gran Hotel Montesol Ibiza – in accordance with the agreement with Grupo Avintia. The 33 guestroom hotel enjoys fantastic location right in the historic center of the city. Gran Hotel Montesol will welcome guests all year round and will open its doors already this summer. The hotel will become the first Curio branded property not only in Ibiza, but also in whole Spain.

Gran Hotel Montesol will become one of few internationally branded hotels in Ibiza. The original hotel was open in 1933. This is the first purpose-built hotel in Ibiza. During the Spanish Civil War, the hotel was used as a military barracks. The building of the hotel is famous for its yellow and white façade. As the building is protected by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, its original design will be retained.

The town port of Ibiza is added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. This is a popular resort destination, and every year wonderful nature, exclusive nightclubs, posh boutiques and best restaurants attract most discerning tourists. Gran Hotel Montesol enjoys prime location close to the central plaza of Vara del Rey. Many guestrooms have balconies that overlook Santa Maria d’Eivissa cathedral built in the 14th century and also known as the highest point of the town. The distance from the hotel to the Ibiza airport is less than 10km, and most entertainment facilities are in walking distance from Gran Hotel Montesol.

After rebranding, the hotel will get a restaurant on the ground floor and a rooftop terrace that can be converted to exclusive meeting space. When open, the hotel will join a portfolio of more 80 carefully selected properties in different parts of the world, including hotels in London, Paris, Hamburg, Lagos and Reykjavik.
