InterContinental Hotel Group has launched a special global water stewardship program and appointed Water Footprint Network to develop it in its hotels around the world. Both the companies will start partnership that will help IHG analyze its water usage on both global and local levels and then find the best and most suitable practice to reduce water footprints in each hotel. The new program is a natural development of the currently existing program of Marriott targeted at reducing of water consumption in its hotels per occupied room, especially in hotels located in water stressed areas.
With IHG hotels present in almost 100 countries, it becomes essential to care about their environmental impact, and good care of water consumption makes it advantageous for both the hotelier and local communities. The company’s managers are sure that positive impact of such efforts is clear it’s good for environment and will at the same time inspire more people to stay at IHG hotels.
