It’s hard to overestimate impact of modern technologies in most spheres of our lives, and tourism and actions associated with that are no exception. Smartphones have significant influence on tourist experience, which was proven in a recent study conducted by the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
In their work, researchers used data based on surveys of travelers who use either of the top three most popular operating systems for handheld devices Android, iOS, and Blackberry and unlimited internet access on their gadgets. According to results of the survey, such travelers make vacations more frequently. Most of them had at least 3 trips during the past year. All respondents name smartphones an essential item that impacts their daily life and habits, and mention it as an item that “clearly had potential to alter the tourist experience substantially”. Therefore, companies that offer context for smartphone users are likely to get more clients and promote their services better way.
