InterContinental Hotels Group announced that the company will develop a brand new reservation system for its hotels. The reservation system of new generation or GRS (Guest Reservation System) will be developed together with Amadeus and will be based on cloud model.
The launch of the new system will be a step forward for the whole hotel industry as currently only the global airplane industry uses similar reservation model. Together with Amadeus, IHG will work over all aspects of the system, including its design and functionality. When the system is ready, it will replace current system adopted at IHG hotels, Holidex. However, still a lot should be done in development and adjustment of the new system, so it will appear at selected hotels in 2017. IHG promises ultimate comfort and benefit for both hotel owners and guests, and in order to minimize risks the new system will be launched in phases. Amadeus will be responsible for funding and maintaining the reservation system, and every hotel will pay for usage of the reservation system. Even when the system is launched, Amadeus will keep working with IHG over improvement and update of the GRS.
According to the announcement by IHG, the new system will be scalable and flexible, will allow hotel owners manage interaction with guests and personalize their experience, and hotel teams will find the GRS intuitive and convenient to use.
