Have you ever dreamt of having old silverware or vintage linens? Hotel Plaza Athénée, one of famous luxury hotels in Paris, is going to auction many precious items this autumn, after the hotel is closing for restoration on October 1.
The hotel, which is a property of the Dorchester Collection, has already published the auction list that includes Murano chandeliers, high bar tables and leather chairs, the Sound Tree installation made by Maurizio Galante, the bar counter designed by Patrick Jouin, and many other items from the hotel’s bar. The restaurant of Hotel Plaza Athénée, Alain Ducasse, also has approximately 200 items for sale. These are chairs, tableware and various art objects. Buyers may be especially interested in an artwork made by Patrick Jouin three screens that depict a mushroom, lettuce, and an artichoke.
The list of items offered for sale by the Relais Plaza includes sofas, chairs, tables and various decoration items, such as vases, bronzes, and stained glass. Vintage connoisseurs may be interested in purchasing iron lights that previously were located in the courtyard and two statues made by Jean-Michel Folon. The Galerie des Gobelins will auction four large vases, armchairs made in the Louis XVI style, coffee tables and hand-embroidered cushions. Even such items as concierge desk, reception desk and a carpet with the hotel’s initials will be up for your bid.
If you’re interested in purchasing something from the famous hotel, you should visit Paris in October. Once the hotel closes for restoration on October 1, the items will be available for viewing. During the restoration, the hotel will slightly change its look and it will get 6 new guestrooms, 8 new suites, a grand ballroom, and some additional event space.
