Quite interesting information has been published recently. According to Scandic’s statistics, vast majority of Swedes do not book hotel rooms in advance, preferring to make last minute bookings. During hot summer season, as many as sixty percent of travellers make room reservations within one week of travelling. Furthermore, two out of ten travellers make the booking on the same day!
According to the company’s statistics, 60% of guests book hotel rooms a week or less before their travel. You may think that single tourists are the least organized, but, surprisingly, the situation is quite the opposite. Twenty one percent of visitors and twenty four percent of families make hotel booking on the date of arrival. Families are the least organized among Swedish travellers as almost a quarter of them make the booking after their arrival at the hotel. On the other hand, the situation with foreign bookings is not the same. Here many people are interested in special summer travel packages, and travellers often make bookings a whole year in advance.
Summer in Sweden is very comfortable, so it is a very convenient period for travel. As the company’s spokesman explains, modern travellers have to be flexible because their plans can change very quickly. Families with children are very concerned about rapidly changing weather, so many of them prefer spontaneous booking.
