Aberdeen Airport in the UK will soon get two new hotels that will add 250 new guestrooms. Both the hotels will be located in the business park called ABZ and will be branded by the Novotel and Ibis brands. The plans for the building of the two properties have been already approved by Aberdeen City Council, so now nothing prevents the project from implementation.
The building of the 140-guestroom Novotel and the 112-guestroom Ibis hotel will require an investment of £25 million. As the director of ABZ Development Ltd. George Stevenson mentions, this is a long awaited project that will certainly be welcomed. For many years Aberdeen has suffered from the lack of hotel rooms, so even though the two new hotels cannot change this situation completely, they will provide the much needed new guestrooms for guests of the city. Aberdeen, the third most populous city in Scotland, becomes more popular with both leisure and business travellers, and new hotels will help city to develop its tourism industry.
Local authorities have also praised the opening saying that this project is a proof of confidence of developers in the region. Despite the negative trend across the UK and not very optimistic revenue levels of hotels in the province, new hotels in Aberdeen are expected to be successful.
By the way, not so long ago Aberdeen Airport has changed its name. Now it is known as Aberdeen International.
