51 Buckingham Gate Hotel has recently opened its new suite devoted to cinema. The suite, which has been designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, is devoted to Hollywood of 1940s and 1950s, and to the Indian cinema art of the same period.
The total square of the suite is 170 sq. m. Here guests will find two large bedrooms, a kitchen and a dining room, a study room and a powder room. All the rooms are decorated with images of a certain movie star. For example, the bedrooms have images of Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth. Other rooms feature images of Merchant Ivory, Guru Dutt, and Bimal Roy. The suite has distinct Bollywood and Indian culture influences in design. For instance, prints from Bollywood films are used as décor elements. Other Bollywood influences can be traced in silk tapestries, Bhutanese frames, large vintage mirrors, and old 1920s embroidered Indian lamps. The wallpapers made in orange, black and red are designed by Nina Campbell.
As it can be guessed from the theme of the suite, this posh apartment will be a perfect choice for every fan of retro movies. Moreover, the suite has its own movie database with over 300 international movies, numerous books and music. The suite is equipped with a huge 85-in (216 cm) plasma cinema screen. Guests are also welcome to use Steinway Lyngdorf cinema system.
