Food can be as expressive and beautiful as art. This is the main statement that famous chef Andre Chiang tries to deliver to visitors of Robin’s Grill located in Regent hotel in Taipei. Visitors of the bar now have a unique opportunity to see truly artistic items that are actually food. Of course, while high cuisine is nothing new to many travellers, Chiang has selected a slightly different direction. Each dish offered at Robin’s Grill is inspired by a famous picture.
The feast is called [Andre @ Taiwan], and the main idea for it came to the chef after he had seen “Le dejeuner sur l’herbe” (“The Luncheon on the Grass,” 1862-1863) by Edouard Manet. The picture depicts two young couples who have a great time in picnic at the riverside in early spring. In order to transmit this atmosphere and pass it to visitors of the bar, all the food is served on a bed of fresh grass, and only freshest ingredients are used in the feast’s dishes.
Chiang is often called a celebrity chef as he opened famous Restaurant Andre in Singapore in 2010. The restaurant has gained worldwide acknowledgement and was even mentioned in the list of “Top 10 Restaurant in the World Worth a Plane Ride” by the New York Times.
