Ikea Wants to Become a Hotelier

Ikea, one of the most famous furniture retailers in the world that specializes in budget segment, told press of its plans concerning the entering hotel market. As it is expected from the company, it will be specializing in budget hotels. Ikea wants to open at least 100 budget hotels throughout Europe.

According to the company, they are particularly interested in opening hotels in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland. All hotels will be run by a hotel operator, which name will be announced later. The company says that its hotels will not have the word “Ikea” in their title. As Inter Ikea, the company that manages intellectual property rights of Ikea, mentions, the company will develop an exclusive design for all Ikea hotels. It will be budget, but it will feature all signature elements of style that Ikea is famous for.

The first Ikea hotel will be opened in Germany. The furniture retailer promises to announce the exact location of the property within several weeks.
