The Belfry, a very famous and popular hotel and golf resort in the UK, has changed its owner. Now the luxury complex in Wishaw, North Warwickshire, belongs to KLS Capital Partners.
The new owner has already announced that the resort will be managed by one of the subsidiaries of the De Vere Group. This company also operates 62 hotels in the UK that work under such brands as De Vere Hotels, VILLAGE, and Venues. An interesting fact – the De Vere Group was the owner and managing company of The Belfry until 2005. Then the resort was sold to The Quinn Group, and then to KSL Capital Partners. KSL plans to start an extensive renovation of the resort. The renovation will cover various public areas, meeting facilities, dining options and, of course, guestrooms. The resort will remain fully operational and will not be closed for renovation.
This golf resort is internationally popular as the only place that hosted The Ryder Cup four times. The golf course of the resort called The Brabazon hosted the competition in 1985, 1989, 1993, and 2002. The resort also includes the hotel with 324 guestrooms.
KLS already has experience in owning and operating large golf resorts in the United States. The company considers the purchase of the Belfry as an excellent opportunity to spread their business to Europe. The new owner believes that their investments and familiarity of the De Vere brand will help to make this resort even more popular.
