Normal life returns to post-war Iraq and so many hoteliers consider opening properties in this country. Rotana, which is headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has exposed its plans concerning the opening of three more hotels in the Kurdistan region, which is located the northern Iraq. The company already opened a 201-guestroom hotel in Erbil in 2010. According to Rotana, such decision came up to them from the need to meet the growing demand from the side of business and leisure visitors. This news was announced by the hotelier’s chairman in MEED Kurdistan Projects 2012, which took place this June.
According to the company, their experience with the first hotel is very good, so they want to expand in Iraq.
The first hotel in Iraq by Rotana was an accommodation in Erbil. The hotel performs well yields good profits. Rotana has already started the building of their second hotel in Iraq. This will be a 250-guestroom hotel in Sulaimaniyah. The other two hotels will be also located in Erbil.
Kurdistan region becomes were popular and it is now visited by more than 2 million visitors a year. Therefore, we can expect some big names to come to the region in future.
