Starwood Hotels and Resorts Opens Its 1000th Hotel on the Bank of Quandao Lake in China

News Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc, one of the world’s leading hotel and tourist business groups has announced it has reached a new milestone in its history: it opens its 1000th hotel.

The Sheraton Qiandao Lake Resort is located on the bank of the Qiandao Lake, also known as the One Thousand Island Lake.

“We are happy to open our 1000th hotel, and the fact that we are opening a hotel under the Sheraton brand in China is a matter of great significance”, says Fritz van Paashen, chairman and chief executive officer.

“The opening of the hotel in Qiandao is historic, and it promises brilliant prospects. Being the world’s largest brand of Starwood, Sheraton has paved the way for us to new markets, including China. We opened our first international hotel in China back in the 1980s. Today, Starwood is the world’s largest hotel group planning to open 300 more hotels over the next three to four years… We plan to open 100 more hotels in China by the year 2012, thus doubling our existing portfolio.

Qiandao Lake is found in Chun'an County, Zhejiang, China 140 km away from Hangzhou city. Sheraton Qiandao Lake Resort has 250 rooms, and it is located among a bundle of the world’s greatest tourist attractions with numerous opportunities for climbers, cycle riders, watersports, etc.
