InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which is widely known as the largest hotel operator in terms of the number of guestrooms, will open a hotel in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The company will manage the hotel in accordance with a 30-year agreement with Bangladesh Services Limited.
The hotel will be a converted property that currently operates as Ruposhi Bangla Hotel. It will be closed for a large-scale renovation and in 2014 it will open again as a part of IGH family. This hotel will also mean the hotelier’s re-entry to the country.
The hotel is located in the central part of the city. It will have large guestrooms, a special InterContinental Club Lounge, an all day dining restaurant, 2 more restaurants serving special dishes, a bar and a deli. Of course, the hotel will be equipped with well-developed business facilities that include a business center, numerous meeting rooms, and a convention center. On the territory of the hotel will be also opened as a spa center, a health club, and a pool. The IHG’s spokesman has already made comments concerning this deal telling they are happy to return to Bangladesh. The company is very interested in developing business in this country and will invest many efforts into opening other accommodations in this country that increases its popularity as both business and leisure travel destination.
Dhaka is the largest city of Bangladesh with a population of 15 million of people. Due to growing middle class and increased number of leisure tourists this city may soon attract other big hotel company names.
