Should Hoteliers Add Teddy Bears to Guestrooms?

News Travelodge hotel brand made an interesting survey. It asked its guests whether they sleep with teddy bears and what did they think about this toy. The results of the survey are really interesting. It seems teddy bear is not just a kids’ toy, but a source of comfort for adults. According to results, 35% of the 6,000 British adults, who have participated in the survey, cannot fall asleep without their teddy bears. They sleep with a bear, because this makes cuddling very comfortable and easy.

Around 51% of respondents say they still keep a teddy bear from their childhood and the toy has already become a precious item for them. The average age of people participating in this survey is 27 years old. Moreover, 25 percent of participants say they always take a teddy bear with them when they make business trips. These figures are not surprising as Travelodge also reveals very interesting statistics – within last 12 months the chain of famous hotels in the UK has helped to bring back as many as 75,000 teddy bears left by their owners in 452 hotels by Travelodge.

Corrine Sweet, a psychologist, says that teddy bear is already a part of the national culture of the British people. It gives its owners a feeling of peace and security, helping to calm down and fall asleep. Finally, people tend to bring many habits throughout their lives, and teddy bear is one of them.
