According to the new study provided by Travelocity, more than a half of consumers (53%) want to travel more this year. Many people did not make any travels at all in 2011 due to financial instability. Now they feel more confident and want to make new journeys.
About two thirds of the respondents say they plan to spend more on travelling in 2012, and one third says they do not want to stretch their travel budgets and intend to spend their usual sum of money for rest.
The President of Travelocity Global Carl Sparks says this is a positive signal and hoteliers should be encouraged by such results.
The study also contains some interesting data. Thus, today around 50% of respondents do not have a predetermined travel budget for 2012. The majority of participants want to save money on their travel, and so almost 50% of people plan to compare various offers and make bookings in advance in order to save more. Around 70% of people want to book complete vacation packages that include both flight and hotel. Many people say they will look for great deals on flash sales. When it comes to length of their stay, 76% of respondents do not plan to shorten their vacation or even plan to make it longer.
When asked, how people plan to save, the most popular solutions are “staycation”, when families book hotels not far away from home, and a refusal to use hotels’ services. Respondents do not want to pay for private check-in, newspapers or maid services.
