Choice Hotels has conducted a survey among European hoteliers asking them to tell what amenities they consider the most important ones for business travellers. In this survey participated over 100 owners of hotels in France, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Italy, and the UK. The European economy has not been in its best state within recent years, so it’s crucial to provide better services in order to attract more visitors.
So, over 90% of respondents name free Wi-Fi or Internet services as the most important service. The majority of hoteliers believe their business improved after they had equipped their guestrooms with Internet. Late check-in and check-out is the second most important factor. Many hotels now offer even 24h deck support. 37% of hoteliers name an on-site restaurant as one more crucial factor.
There are also amenities that are not very important for business travellers according to hoteliers. The list of them is quite surprising too. 33% of respondents say that business center is not important, other 18% name airport transportation, and, finally, 12% of hoteliers think that fitness center is not much valued.
Hoteliers have also shared their plans and forecasts concerning 2012. The majority of hotel owners believe the next year will bring a steady but continued growth. Almost 40% of hoteliers believe the hotel rates will return to pre-recession levels in 2012, but 26% of hoteliers think the industry will not show any sign of recovery.
In 2012 82% of participants want to use marketing activities to attract more visitors to their hotels. 28% of them also try to make clients loyal by offering rewards or discounts for returning customers, while 39% of hoteliers want to use social networks for promotions.
