Muriya Tourism Development Company has revealed its plans concerning the investment of $1 billion into several hotels in Oman. This sum of money will be invested within 5 years. The company is very interested in hotels in Muscat, Adil Taqi, and Dhofar.
At the moment the company works over 4 projects in Muscat and Dhofar. In Muscat these are City Walk project, Jebel Sifah and Salalah Beach. In Dhofar Muriya is interested in Al Sodah Island. The company has already concluded several agreements with the country’s government, according to which it will build 500 rooms in Jebel Sifah by 2015. One more hotel will start operating in the end of 2011. Other two hotels are scheduled for opening in 2014.
Jebel Sifah hotel may become a prominent landmark of the sultanate and one of the centers of social life. The large-scale project includes 4 five-star hotels, Yacht Marina, Marina Town, Marina Boutique, as well as numerous restaurants and recreational facilities. Besides 4 hotels here will be built a number of luxurious villas and several residential apartments that feature panoramic views of the marina.
Marina Town will be a complex of shops and boutiques. 42 of them are ready for rent. Here will be also located banks, travel offices, cafes and restaurants, food outlets, and more.
The second complex is City Walk hotel in Al Hail. Located on the beach front, City Walk will consist of a 250-key five-star hotel, a shopping center, and various entertainments. The building has not yet begun as Muriya is in the process of finalizing all formalities.
Finally, Salalah beach project seems to be the most interesting one. Here the company will build a complex on the unique 15.6 million sq. m. area. Muriya plans to build five hotels with the total number of rooms exceeding 1400, a marina, restaurants, shops, and much more.
