Marco Polo Hotels has revealed its plans concerning the managing of a hotel in Ortigas, Philippines. The property will start operating in the end of 2013 or in the beginning of 2014, and will be located in Ortigas Business Center. The company also wants to operate a hotel in Manila Bay and is currently in the process of negotiations with the hotel’s owners.
At the moment the business center is at the stage of building. The developer has already completed the foundation and now builds the podium. This property is being built by Xin Tian – the company founded by First SLP Holdings.
The brand new 5-star hotel will have 313 guestrooms and suites. On the territory of the hotel will be also located 8 function rooms, a grand ballroom, several meeting rooms, a space center, a swimming pool, a health club, and more. Dining facilities will include a bar in the hotel’s lobby, a Sky bar, a Chinese cuisine restaurant, and an all-day restaurant.
Concerning the hotel in Manila Bay, the company hopes to win this project, but that location is getting very competitive. Another popular location, Makati, attracts all major hoteliers, so Marco Polo doesn’t even try to open a hotel there. Despite the growing popularity of hotel-casino projects, the hotelier doesn’t have plans to step into gaming business.
The hotel in Ortigas will not be the first accommodation by the hotelier in this country as Marco Polo already runs hotels in Cebu City and Davao City.
